Last day of summer…
Is it? You may ask, since the weather wont give up to autumn…
So I’m here a day earlier just to think of summer moments in the island of Odysseus…
* A truly cold, deep and crystal clear sea [Ionian]
* Large pebbles that won’t fit between toes [not true]
* My new white and blue lighthouse [the most perfect souvenir]
* Kantouni tavern in Vathi Ithaki [tasty stuff]
* The day trip to Gidaki bay [got a sunburn but it was worth it]
* The old bookseller who gave me grapes as a gift after buying 2 books from him [marketing? just kidding]
* Where rainbows end [by Cecelia Ahern]
* Having grapes washed in the sea for lunch [the old bookseller’s gift]
* Alicelia mansion [and its perfect bathroom]
* Sarakiniko beach and Filiatro beach [the first one for its unique beauty and quietness the second one for being the only one having a beach bar]
* The lost caretta catreta sea turtle swimming near by [so sweet - and rare]
* Sending postcards [to dear ones]
* Blood thirsty donkeys [ : ) ]
* [and] The revenge of the zombie donkeys [ : D ]
* Not [ever] feeling homesick
P.S.

Let us go... [and we’ll come again]

Here we are... We’ve been waiting for this moment and you knew it would come... It’s only for a little while though… And you KNOW we have to take separate vacation… I may love you in autumn, and winter, and spring but if I spent all summer with you I’ll hate you…
So I’ll see you again in autumn dear big city. And we will work together, and go out, and meet our friends, and shop, and feel happy, and then feel sad, and you won’t have parking space, and you will make me be late, and until next summer you will wear me out so I’ll leave you again… [get it now?]
Until then all I ask is a fortnight away… To get some rest, to clear my thoughts, to swim and get a suntan, to drink cocktails and taste some local food… To miss you…
P.S.
Have a great weekend.
See you again in September.

IT book
The Island by Victoria Hislop is a novel I would most definitely recommend to “summer” readers.I found it by accident on a stand with paperback books, read that it was a best seller and bought it last summer on my vacation.
What I found the most impressive is the descriptions and details of the Greek landscape [the novel takes place in Crete] and culture which made me believe that the author had a Greek origin [something far away from the truth].
Read more about the novel at victoriahislop.com. You can find the book at amazon.

IT dress?

What do Eva Mendes [American actress], Freja Beha [Danish model], Mona Johannesson [Swedish model] and Lily Allen [English recording artist, talk show host, and actress] have in common?
They all made summer covers, for W [July], for British Vogue [August], for Swedish Elle [August] and for British Elle [August], respectively, wearing the same [!] dress. So far for originality… On the other hand, congrats to Miu Miu and the designer team. Somehow they've managed to make their piece [seen here] the true celebrity of the summer :)

Nothing to wait for but the next ship.
Hey little lighthouse… Lonely, quite and still. Hours passing by… Winter waves pounding you, summer heat searing you, and yet you never complain.How can you stand alone? How can you be that strong? Or do you have no say in this?
I am afraid of your solitude… But then you always seem so proud…
Show us your light... Let us know we’re finally there.
P.S.
Have a nice weekend

About wedding…
A really close friend of mine called me the other day and announced me she got engaged. I was really happy for her since I know this is a matching pair...
Then [as a web geek I am] I started browsing wedding blogs, and wedding dedicated sites. And believe me, there are tons of them! I didn’t have a clue!
What I hate about weddings is the never changing style. How the pictures of every wedding look the same [different people and places but same old concept], how people are dressed the same, how uncomfortable the bride and groom look, how fake the hair and makeup of the bride usually is and so on.
But to my [pleasant] surprise I found that this is not the case any more and couples seem to bring their own style to their wedding [if they have one that is :)]. Hope this trend comes to Greece as well… Meanwhile here is a video and some pictures from Max and Margaux's wedding, a couple I have never heard of before but never the less [I] appreciate their unique style. Max and Margaux seem to be all over the web these days so take a look [and why not? Get inspired:

Melina♥’s Spanish omelet…
Among other stuff, we made a Spanish omelet [well... we called it Spanish]. It wasn’t the best dish on the table but it was the easiest and the only one we took pictures of since we believed we could actually pull it off [next time I’ll take photos of the paella as well].
So here is the recipe:
You need: 2-3 onions, 2-3 potatoes, 3-4 tablespoons of olive oil, 5-6 eggs, salt, pepper.
Chop the onions and the potatoes in really small pieces [make small cubes].
Break the eggs and stir them. [Tip: pour 2-3 tablespoons of water in the mix.]. Add salt and pepper.
Put the olive oil in a hot pan and when the oil gets hot put the onions and the potatoes in the pan and roast them until the potatoes are soft [eatable that is].
Put the egg mixture in the pan and wait until it’s cooked.
Then turn the omelet over so the other side can be cooked as well. [Tip: while waiting for the first side to be cooked make slots so the mixture can be cooked better.]
That’s it! Bon appétit!
