It’s the end of a really slow week. Yes, of course there have been worst times but this came out of the blue. I’ve been feeling like I was pushing the days one by one just to get by. It’s not healthy being so bored. It can’t be…
It’s the end of July as well… My vacation is approaching and this gets me excited. If only I had some plans :)

The fedora obsession

The word fedora comes from the title of an 1882 play by Victorien Sardou, Fédora, written for Sarah Bernhardt.[2] The play was first performed in the U.S. in 1889. Bernhardt played Princess Fédora, the heroine of the play, and she wore a hat similar to what is now considered a fedora. The fedora became a female fashion which lasted into the early part of the twentieth century. When the fedora became a male fashion item, it was popular in cities for its stylishness, ability to protect the wearer's head from the wind and weather, and the fact that it could be rolled up when not in use.

Home sweet home

I love shopping for the house and I enjoy it very much when I can browse a collection from the shop’s web page.

Last week I was in Kolonaki and I visited a store I really like but I don’t get to go often since I’m not a downtown gal.

Although I made a quick promise to myself not to have anything just before entering the store the case changed when I got in. Damn the sales! :)

As soon as I made my purchase [details below] the cashier gave me the store’s card and informed me that they have a new web site. “You can see all of our stuff and the prices!” she said enthusiastically. “Great”, I replied thinking I would be able to “visit” the shop as much and whenever I wished.

Blues Brothers Athens concert [2010]

It was blues brothers night yesterday night in Athens. The Original Blues Brothers Band gave a really good concert at Lycabettus theatre.

You all know the band, you all know the music. What I would like to share with you are a couple of sweet moments during the show.

The first one was when the leading singer left the stage and started to walk among the audience. Some didn’t even notice him as he tried to surprise them by sitting next to them.

The other one was when the leading singer [again] took a little boy from the audience on the stage and they “performed” together. The boy had his sunglasses and his hat on, so he was ready…

I leave you with a song from last night’s concert, and I most definitely suggest you to see the band should you have the opportunity.

Summer in the city

I’ve been waiting for my day off since forever and now that it’s here the hottest of weather came along as well.
So how can a person [who tries to avoid a/c] can survive the sweltering heat?

✓Stay at home [at least between 11.30 to 17.00]
✓Take gold showers
✓Wear light clothes
✓Eat salads and fruits
✓Drink smoothies and water [lots of it]
✓Do not watch TV
✓Use a fan
✓Blog :)
✓Or toss all of the above and just visit a beach near by for a swim

My favourite drink during hot weather is the light-pineapple cooler [recipe here].
All you need is vanilla extract, lemon juice, unsweetened pineapple juice, coconut extract and carbonated water.
My twist: serve in shots and add some rum after sunset [looks sth like the picture on the left]. Enjoy ;)

The Row

The Row by Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen was launched in 2007 “as a simple mission to make the perfect T-shirt”, quoting from the brand presentation in the company’s site.

It seems they have evolved a lot since then. And how could they not? The girls have a unique style and they are always fashion forward. But if you are looking for something loud The Row is not for you.

Clean lines, black, white and blue colors only, simple accessories and almost no makeup. Guess they are focusing on the character of the person wearing the clothes and not vise versa. In one phrase I would say they are comfort clothes, they combine a relaxed feeling with a strong, clean-cut look.

My personal favorite is the first photo of the coat. You can browse through The Row site the complete line, as well as a men’s line.

The new [kids’] trend is called Silly Bands [plastic bracelets] and it’s all over the US elementary schools.

So if you don’t live in the US or you don’t have a child going to school in the US why should you know about this?

Well it seems that they are becoming a trend among adults too…

Fashion icons like Sara Jessica Parker and Mary Cate Olsen have already added them to their wardrobes.

Many find this not right while others find it ok [a pursue of youthfulness].
My opinion? I’ve already ordered a pack of 24 on Amazon [since they are not available in Greece]… :)
